Nico Schippers (1974) studeerde aan de conservatoria van Enschede, Rotterdam en Lyon bij Peter van Klink, George Wiegel, Michel Becquet en Alain Manfrin. Hij volgde masterclasses bij Viktor Sumerkin, Christian Lindberg, Bart van Lier en Denis Wick.

Nico Schippers speelde tijdens zijn studietijd in het Nationaal Jeugd Harmonie Orkest, het Nationaal Jeugd Orkest en het Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. Hij remplaceerde in vrijwel alle Nederlandse orkesten zoals het Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, het Residentie Orkest en het Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest. In 2000 werd hij solotrombonist van het Nederlands Balletorkest (later Holland Symfonia).

Hij maakte vanaf de oprichting tot 2010 deel uit van het Nieuw Trombone Collectief. Sinds augustus 2004 is hij trombonist en tenortubaïst bij het Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest en het koperensemble van het Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest.

Daarnaast is hij als docent trombone en euphonium verbonden aan het Fontys Conservatorium te Tilburg.
